The Hong Kong Stock Exchange announced this Wednesday that it has presented a proposal to buy the London Stock Exchange, the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), through an agreement valued at 36.6 million dollars (about 33.2 billion euros). The Hong Kong stock exchange has until October 9 to submit a firm offer or withdraw its proposal if it does not plan to move forward, according to the statement. Combined, both exchanges would be worth more than 70 billion dollars (about 63.5 billion euros), according to the statement. The London Stock Exchange has assured that its board of directors will consider the proposal.
