PHILADELPHIA The Phillies finalized their roster for the National League Division Series on Saturday morning, just ahead of Game 1 against the Mets at Citizens Bank Park, settling a couple of key decisions.
Weston Wilson won the final reserve spot, edging out Cal Stevenson, while left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard secured the last spot in the bullpen. The remaining spots on the 26-man roster, which includes 14 position players and 12 pitchers, were largely as expected.
Although Stevenson delivered some key hits in limited action late in the season, Wilsons added versatility gave him the edge. Listed as an infielder on the official roster https://www.philliesplayerfanstore.com/lenny_dykstra_jersey-128, Wilson also offers Manager Rob Thomson a reliable pinch-hitting option against left-handed pitchers. Wilson posted a strong.233 batting average with seven extra-base hits in 51 plate appearances versus southpaws this year. He also played in all three outfield positions as well as first, second, and third base, giving the Phillies flexibility. Stevenson, on the other hand, was restricted to outfield duties.
The team is now ready for the upcoming NLDS and eager to make a strong postseason push. https://www.philliesplayerfanstore.com/nick_castellanos_jersey-209
